Connecting to your neighborhood through Beeswax allows you to communicate and share information easily with the people who live close by. All the information that’s on the site comes from people in your neighborhood – not news feeds or general information, so you’ll find it useful. Not only does Beeswax give you relevant information about your immediate neighborhood but it also allows you to pull information from other neighborhoods in the area. So if you’re looking for a babysitter, and electrician, a handyman, or a restaurant you can see which are the most popular in your area. You’ll also find information on neighborhood security, events, discussions, and classifieds. Beeswax also connects you to your neighborhood friends through your personal home page. Your home page lets you check with your networked friends about setting up a dinner, a play-date, or a party. Your personal page can be customized to include pictures, blog and greeting entries, music, and whatever else you think is useful!
Only registered users can use your neighborhood site and you (and all the registered users) control who is registered. It’s your site so you want to keep people out who don’t belong to the neighborhood. You will receive emails when neighbors are attempting to join so make sure that you pay attention to these.
To register you will be asked for your name, address, and email address. No other information is required to register. We will not sell your personal information and registered users will have access only to your name. As you build your personal page you will see that you control what information is available to registered users and what information is only shared with “friends” – users you allow access.
Please don’t be shy about posting your neighborhood Beeswax site! The more you add to the site, the more you will benefit. And the more neighbors that join, the more valuable information will become available. So please think about five people who you think would benefit from being networked (they don’t have to be neighbors) and refer them to the site through our program.
